The Gift of Salvation

Many who have read my blog knows that I am not one that is ashamed of my faith or sharing my love of Jesus with others. It isn't about religion but about a relationship. Here is how I would explain what salvation is with someone that would ask me.

First off you have to admit you are a sinner. No one is perfect and we all sin. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3.23) It also says that wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) You also have to ask for forgiveness. The Bible says in Romans 10:13 that everyone that calls on the name of the Lord with be saved.

Second you need to believe in Jesus. You need to put your trust in Him. He is your only hope of salvation. (John 3:16) says for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. You need to become a child of God by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. (John 1:12) says to all who receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Because Jesus loves you so much, He took the punishment for you so that you can be forgiven.

Lastly, you need to confess that Jesus is Lord! If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9) When you trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you, God forgives you! You become His child, and He promises you a home in heaven forever! Put your trust in Jesus as your Savior from sin. Do it today, and begin following Him by obeying His Word, the Bible.

These three steps bring you closer to having a personal relationship with Jesus. You just need to pray and ask him to come into your heart and forgive you of your sins. Here is a simple prayer you can pray.

Heavenly Father,
I admit that I am a sinner and haven't lived a life that is pleasing to you. I want to turn away from that life and live a life for you. Please forgive me for all my past sins and help me from sinning again. Thank you for loving me even though I don't deserve it. I believe that Jesus came and died for my sins. I believe that he was resurrected from the dead and is alive and hears my prayer. I want Jesus to come and be the Lord of my life. I want him to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey and do your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name amen!

If you just prayed that prayer congratulations. I am rejoicing with you. I promise you that you won't regret this decision. I'd love to hear about it if you'd like to share. I will be praying for you.

Blessings and Shalom,
